Joining Newropeans
2005/2006 : the year of the first 1.000 Newropeans

Newropeans as Europe’s first political transnational movement was formally launched in June 2005. Since then, Newropeans is ready to accept members who wish to help us in our work for the democratisation of the European Union.

Newropeans will stand for the European elections in 2009. As an entirely new citizens’ movement with limited access to funding and the traditional mass media, the key to our electoral success is to have a maximum of highly motivated members and supporters who will then ensure Newropeans’ presence throughout the European Union. It is only together that we can win the 10 to 20 million expected votes in 27 countries in June 2009.
The fact that members of Newropeans are out there to speak directly to the European citizens, proposing an innovative vision of Europe’s democratic future, will show that the EU is a too important thing to be left only in the hands of national political parties.

Therefore it is Newropeans’ prime objective this year to lay the foundations for an organisation which will then be capable to welcome in its network tens of thousands of European citizens from all EU nationalities and languages. If we fail in this, we will not succeed in 2009. And as you may imagine, this is a major endeavour, something no other democratic political organization ever succeeded before.

Our task in the years 2006/2007 is to build a team of 1.000 Newropeans who are very competent and motivated and will build and organise the strong and efficient network we need at the trans-European level. In the following year, more emphasis will be put on creating regional, local and sectoral groups, around the core of the organisation built in the first year. The objective then is to grow from 1.000 to 10.000 members by June 2007. These regional, local and sectoral groups will be key in winning 100.000 supporters for Newropeans by June 2008. This large citizen’s force will help reaching out personally some 1 million Europeans by June 2009, the best way for Newropeans to then convince more than 10 million voters to make the double choice of Europe and Democracy.

At the moment, Newropeans is seeking members who wish to help us build and shape the movement. For instance, we seek support in the following fields:
  • IT expertise
  • Writing and editing of documents, articles etc.
  • Translation and interpretation
  • Organisation (events, conferences)
  • Recruitment of new members
  • Fund raisers
  • Public speakers
  • Training (for instance on the content of Newropeans, public speaking etc.)
  • Expertise in the following domains to further develop our programme: defence, science and technology, socio-economic questions, ethical questions etc.

For an interested person to become a member or supporter of Newropeans, we expect him or her to support Newropeans’ manifesto fully, to agree to about 80 percent of our suggestions laid out in the 16 propositions for the democratic re-foundation of the European Union as well as Newropeans membership Charta. If possible, we wish to give interested persons and existing members of Newropeans a chance to meet personally. To this end, we have developed different meeting formats. Contact us to learn what it happening near you at contact@newropeans.org.

If you have decided to become a member, please do the following:

  • Fill in your membership application form and send it to contact@newropeans.org
  • Indicate in the email which expertise you can bring to our network if you wish to join as a full member. If you wish to join as a supporter, this is not necessary.
  • Please then pay your membership fee of the amount indicated in your membership application form.

We will then get back to you. And we look forward to working with you for a more democratic European Union!
